House

Well here is the latest on the house. They are working on the finishing touches. Hopefully it will be done soon.

The Carpet pad in the Den. Carpet should be done tomorrow.

The shower/tub in the guest bath. All of the shelves in the showers are pieces of granite from the countertops. Nice touch by the tile installers.

The sink in the garage with the water heater. It’s a 75 gallon waterheater. Finally no running out of hot water.

The rock on the fireplace was going in today as well.

This is the front door color, not sure about it yet, but it’s growing on me.

Now for the kitchen. The molding was put on the top of the cabinets.

It’s been a while since I last updated everyone. Lots has happened in the past month. The stucco is up the tile is on the roof. The paint is on the walls, the tile is on the floor, the lighting is in cabinets and countertops are almost done.

May 5 and things are coming along. The drywall is in, next up is texture and paint.

Its been about a week and things are really moving along. The wiring, plumbing and gas, heating and A/C ducts were finished. The doors were put on and all the windows are in place. The Block windows in the Master Bath were put in. The Fireplace was also installed. After all that the insulation was placed and now the sheetrocking is starting.

This is taken from the property line in the back. The Fireplace looks out. The house just needs a little more paper wrapping and then the wire will be put on and it will be ready for stucco.

The Cabinets have been ordered. They will be Cherry wood with Natural Finish on them. The Tile and Carpet was picked out today. Next big decisions will be the Countertops, Paint-for the doors and trim as well-, and lighting.

Where the tile and carpet meet in the foyer and living/dining areas will be a border. Its not picked yet but this is the favorite so far.

The framing is  almost done and they are  starting to work on the interior.

With the walls up it was time for the windows to go in and paper on the outside.

Ok, here are more of the house, now that the house is almost all framed. To see the older pictures click the March 2010 link on the right of the page.

The first picture is a similar house to mine. The differences are mine has a higher roof line along the front and the den on the right and the garage is squared out.

Here are some more pictures of the house. This is the garage  with the wall built up to hide the roof line.

The house so far.

These are the plans. I changed some of the original plans. Now the house is flipped the other way,  the garage is on the left and the master is on the right. I had the builder square the garage so it is now 33′9″ deep and 27′ wide, added a closet and doors to the den in front of the master suite, and my favorite, took the fireplace out of the corner of the room, put it in the middle of the wall and made it a two way that can be seen from the backyard as well.

The next four pictures are of the lot being cleared.  All of the pictures are from the road looking back. The lot is approximately 0.35 acres.

The lot became an official job site, they brought in the port-a-john.

Finally the lot was prepped and the pad was poured. The House is being built on a slab with all the plumbing coming up through the floor.

The garage.

After the pad was poured and set the framing started. They started on the house and poured the driveway as well.

Once the framing started it went up pretty quick.

The framing went up pretty quick. As of March 30, just waiting on the trusses to get here now. They should be going up in the next day or so.

March 31 they started with the trusses. I thought they would be  done with them on April  1, but the weather turned bad. We had  rain and snow today with pretty high winds. Here’s what they have done so far.

April 7 and they are still working on the roof. The weather hasn’t been cooperating the last few days, high winds kept them off the roof.
